Teaching
Hello, fellow violinist.
Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate/advanced level player, I would be happy to offer my guidance and perspective on anything you want to work on and improve. Aside from the technical part of the playing process, I can also be helpful in talking about performance anxiety, specifics of the music major education, preparation for auditions, building up your social media, etc.
Studio Policy 2024/2025
Structure and Payment:
- Online lessons are 1-hour long and are facilitated using Skype.
- The student has an option to choose between single lessons in the form of a consultation or master class or a 4-lesson package.
- Tuition is to be paid at the time of booking on my booking website.
- Payments are processed via the platform of my students' choice. If the platform has a transaction fee, I require my students to cover processing fees
- Rates are subject to change with a sufficient notice
- Violin lessons in this violin studio are a 3-figure investment for a 1-hour lesson. Before applying for a spot in this violin studio, the student must evaluate his/her preparedness for a financial commitment.
- This policy serves as a binding contract between the student and the teacher and sets forth the expectations and the responsibilities for the duration of each lesson and/or package.
- All new students are required to schedule at least 2 individual lessons before purchasing a package.
- Being accepted to these first two individual sessions does not entitle a student to being accepted for more lessons in the future. Acceptance to further lessons will be evaluated separately.
Student responsibilities:
- The student must be prepared and timely for scheduled lessons.
- Preparedness means having practiced the instrument. If the teacher feels that the student's primary interest is not the bettering their musical skills and committing to a practice routine, the teacher remains the right to terminate this contract.
- Preparedness is also defined by having a working and stable Wi-Fi connection, audio, and video setup, as well as a charged device for the duration of the lesson and all the required sheet music.
Tardiness:
- The student will contact the teacher by email if they expect to be late for a scheduled lesson. If a student arrives after their scheduled lesson time has begun, the teacher will complete the lesson in the remaining portion of the time slot. Late appearances do not lead to any kind of refund.
Rescheduling:
- If a lesson needs to be rescheduled, it shall be communicated at least 24 hours before the start of the lesson. Rescheduling depends on the teacher's availability.
- Rescheduling is made in good faith and therefore, reasons such as lack of practice of the student are not being granted. The teacher is not obligated to accommodate to rescheduling for a student, however, reasons for rescheduling that will be accommodated to are: physical injury affecting the ability to play the violin, physical and mental health struggles, or mourning.
- Requesting to reschedule a lesson without communicating the new rescheduling date ("holding a lesson") is not permitted. Delayed written communication (more than 3 days) of the student to reschedule a lesson is considered "holding a lesson". Exceptions of this time frame only apply to health struggles supported by a written medical testimony, or mourning. If a student's reason for rescheduling is not communicated with the teacher, the teacher reserves the right not to reschedule a lesson. Dates that already presented a potential conflict at the time of scheduling for the student (such as exam periods, vacations or festivities) are not granted due to their foreseeable nature.
- If the teacher needs to reschedule a lesson, there is no obligation to share the reason of doing so with the student.
- No-shows will not be given any kind of refund.
- If a student cancels a rescheduled lesson, the lesson will be considered forfeited.
Copyright/class recordings:
- Lessons and seminars are considered intellectual property and may not be recorded (audio, video or screen recording).
- The teacher is entitled to immediate termination of the lesson/package without a refund if this rule is broken.
Parental Involvement for students under 18:
- Legal guardian understands the responsibilities to adequately prepare the student prior to the lesson. Legal guardian understands that he/she needs to support and help the student to find daily practice time free from other commitments, noise and distractions. It is the parents' responsibility to have the student be on time to lessons.
- Students below the age of 10 are not currently accepted at this studio. Please check back later.
